English Department Scholarship

The Allan & Suzan Payne English Scholarship awards $1,000 to an upper-level English major (60+ completed hours with at least 12 hours of English beyond 2010). Applicants must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Application deadline is March 15th. Additional Information and Application is available below:

Education Department – Terrel H Bell Education Incentive Loan Program

All applicants must be classified as a “Resident” of Utah. Any student who has successfully completed at least 30 Dixie State University credits is eligible to apply. This scholarship can only be awarded to students who declare intent to complete the prescribed course of instruction required for a teaching certificate. Deadline: May 10th. Orton-Gubler Teacher Education Scholarship

Established to honor a long time Washington County educator and his wife, the Rulon D Orton and LaPrele Gubler Orton Education Scholarship awards $1000 scholarships to elementary education majors. Candidates must be DSU students in good standing with a 3.0 GPA and accepted into the Elementary Education Program prior to making application. Students must have “Financial Need” as determined by FAFSA. A short essay must be submitted with your application, applications submitted without an essay will not be considered. Preference is given to Non-Traditional students, and those seeking an Elementary Education – Arts endorsement. Applicants will be considered for additional awards each year they meet the qualifications. Deadline is May 1st.

Business Department Scholarships

Applicants must be fully admitted to DSU to be considered for this scholarship. Priority will be given to students with Advanced Standing status. Application deadline is March 1st.

Media Studies Department – Dixie Sun News Journalism Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who work on the Dixie Sun News staff as editors, writers, reporters, designers – and photographers, creating content for print, broadcast, radio and online media. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply. Application deadline is usually March 1. Communication Department – Radio Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who work at KXDS 91.3, the Dixie State University radio station. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply. Application deadline is August 31st. Communication Department – CEC TV Sports Production Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who work in local sports broadcast functions for the Community Education Channel. Scholarship amounts may vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. All students regardless of class standing and major are welcome to apply. However, experience in non-linear video editing and other aspects of television production is preferred. Application is available below:

DSU-DRMC Nursing Diversity Scholarship

The Intermountain Healthcare Dixie Regional Medical Center (DRMC)-Dixie State University (DSU) Nursing Diversity Scholarship supports the mission and core values of DRMC and DSU by encouraging a diverse workforce, which will be more responsive to the varied cultural/ethnic beliefs and practices of patients and their families.

The scholarship will be awarded to students of diversity in ethnicity accepted into or currently enrolled in the DSU Associate Degree Nursing or RN-to-BSN program who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Ethnic diversity is defined according to categories currently used by DSU: Asian, Hispanic, Black, Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or 2 or more races. Additional points may be given to applicants with bilingual skills and foreign language fluency.  Intent to work as a registered nurse in Utah is strongly preferred, although not a disqualifier for application and consideration for the scholarship.

Each applicant will submit a brief personal statement describing his or her ethnic diversity.  Intermountain DRMC and DSU will invite the successful applicant(s) to join in our outreach efforts to diverse communities a few times during the calendar year.
